With all the rain we’ve had the flowers in shop window boxes may be not doing well. If needed we hope they consider replanting with at least some herbs and edible flowers.

That  way when Kim at “Newburyport Today” makes her clam chowder and needs some fresh thyme for her recipe you can offer a snippet of the herbs and a little cone of newspaper to take them away in. It might sound quirky and unexpected, but why not make a small herbal contribution to “locally grown”.

Your customers will tell their friends and it will build your brand as a thoughtful citizen of planet Earth.  Imagine how many cook books the Bookrack would sell with purple basil begging to become pesto in their window boxes. Or what if Oregano’s grew their own oregano? Cilantro at Agave? The Upper Crust’s own basil for margarita pizza.
