LFN member Joan flagged us that the Vermont Cheesemaker Festival is coming up in mid-August. It promises tastings of over 100 varieties of cheese, as well as local vineyard wine sampling, and tons of local artisanal foods to go with it. The web site says that Vermont has the highest number of artisanal cheese makers per capita…tasty! They have cow, sheep, and goat cheeses….and great creative farm names
Vermont isn’t right here in Newburyport but its a lot closer than California, Wisconsin, or Italy. Some of the State of Vermont would qualify with the locavore definition of food from within a 100 mile radius. Maybe some of our local purveyors …like Joppa Fine Foods and Grand Trunk, plus the Farmers Market managers will get a chance to source some cheeses and their makers for future sales in our area if they visit the show.
