John Chapman AKA Johnny Appleseed, MA Native … Apples In New England Feature on Radio Boston Tomorrow

d8d02920527050a0Apples are as American as pie. A democratic fruit that could grow in the cold winter climes of northern US states. Every farmer had a few trees, maybe some pears too. Now this guy…Johnny Appleseed ..grew up in Massachusetts and he knew how to grow apples.[ Those old Yankee's knew a lot of practical stuff]. In fact Mr. Appleseed wandered from town to town like some later day St Francis planting apple trees in the small towns of the American frontier in the early 1800’s. Want to learn more? Listen into Radio Boston on WBUR tomorrow at 1 pm when they feature apples, glorious New England apples…and their worthy progeny…pie and cider! and here’s a recipe for French Apple Tart Tartin. The Yankees could grow ‘em, but nobody thinks they could beat the French in the Kitchen.
