The LFN appreciates the nice article by Katie Farrell Lovett that appears in the Newburyport Daily News today. Where and how food is grown makes a huge difference to our economy and our environment. What ever food we can grow locally is just that much less industrial polution created on mega farms and factories. Thanks to the Newburyport City Council for taking up this question. And congratulations to Amesbury for leading the way for 10 years with their community gardens.
Presuming the Council will only receive and file Monday night with discussion in the future, I support the installation of community gardens in multiple locations, e.g. near the playgrounds at Cushing and Perkins Parks, at Woodman Park — and in sync with an idea of mine at Cashman Park.
