As you can see from our little note above, the Local Food Network of greater Newburyport is planning some changes. When we ran our on line poll and sought others opinions about the LFN we learned some interesting and valuable tidbits. So we’re going to be responding to those suggestions .

We heard from online readers that they wanted more events, and cooking lessons, and speakers, and newsletters. OK…but as we thought of those ideas, it became clear that there we’re plenty of local events, TV magazines and newspapers, restaurant specials, farm stands and markets, bookstore speakers, etc. So what can LFN be that’s unique ? What is its raison d’etre?

Well, some ideas are emerging. Some new editorial leadership we’re close to naming, and a focus at the intersection of local environmental efforts, food as a builder of culture and community, and charitable purpose. Sounds vague we know, but we think we can find a way to look at all aspects of good local food…as an environmental issue, as a local cultural issue, and as a community support issue. We’re going to be trying some new things. Stay tuned.
