The more I think about the culture and habits of the ‘Old Yankees’ of New England the more I become a ‘Yankee Fan’. I think environmental and Transition advocates might want to emulate the old Yankee ‘Foxes’. Here’s a slighly edited note I received this morning from a great local Yankee Farmer, Dick Chase of Arrowhead Farm: Interest in locally grown foods is rising, which may mean more fresh fruits and vegetables in our diet. And more fruits and vegetables in our diet will be a good defense, for statistics show heart disease, cholesterol, and type 2 diabetes have been on the rise for decades. |
